This spring, John Paget & Chris Elisara, of First and Main Media, produced the pilot episode for a series entitled American Makeover. The pilot focused on Atlanta (or Sprawlanta, as it was described), and Glenwood Park in particular.
I'm off on a study trip in the Luberon region of Provence, in France. Douglas Duany had recommended this particular area as a great one to study hill town techniques and examples. He was right! Here is a shot of Gordes, where I am staying.
Glenwood Park is the 28-acre new neighborhood in Atlanta that my partners and I developed starting back in 2001. It is the subject of the pilot episode of a new documentary series called American Makeover - about recreating the built environment into something more sustainable and healthy. The ...

Here is a link to a walkthrough of a 3-D model of our Phase One plan. It is still incomplete and a work in progress, but quite cool non-the-less!
Yesterday we had the final studio presentations at the Notre Dame School of Architecture for this term's studio work on Las Catalinas. Very exciting! Most importantly I think we now have an excellent plan for the area just inland from of the public road from beach town. Also we got some well ...
We have a cool new click-able map up on our Punta Penca Homesites page courtesy of Jim Hodgson. Check it out. We have several customers in conversation about these lots and are making a major push to have a critical mass of them sold so that we can begin construction on the new street there as soon ...
I'm just back from a trip to the Notre Dame School of Architecture to review the work of this year's crop of fifth-year students. As of now there are three houses finished (OK, finished enough to sleep in, still some final items being worked on), plus the restaurant and Pura Vida Ride. All are unique, all have ...
There is a conspicuous hole in the ground on the eastern edge of Plaza Danta. Towering above the hole is a large green crane. So, you may have been wondering, what's going on here?
Here are a few nice images of how the initial houses at Las Catalinas are coming along. Most of the houses are getting ready for final finishes. The installation of the hardscape for the public areas is about halfway done. We are in the home stretch!!
OK, thanks everyone for your votes in the poll. The results are in :
We need to select a few more place names at Las Catalinas. So here is another poll. I do appreciate your votes in this - I'm a believer in the wisdom of crowds for this kind of thing.
This is something that I wrote back in June of 2006 when we were still working on getting the Las Catalinas land under contract. I can't believe I haven't posted it here before now! A rewrite today would mention a few things that are omitted here. But not much else would change. I know, because a ...
Here is a little video courtesy of Jim Berry. It is taken from the second floor of my house, as of around June 1, looking around at the other houses and the sea view. Looking good!
In today’s blog, we focus on one of town’s many interesting personalities, Andrina Fonseca.
