For nine years I have been longing for access to small sailboats to sail in the beautiful waters off of Las Catalinas. My wish has finally come true. The Costa Rica Sailing Center opened earlier this summer in Potrero, just a few minutes drive or a bike ride away from Las Catalinas. Owners Jeff Hermann and Justin McCarter have a whole fleet of new fast boats and expert instruction. If you join the Sailing Club (which I did immediately and you should too) all rentals are 50% off. They also have a full slate of summer youth camps. This place is awesome! It is a really exciting addition to our local area, and just exactly what I have been wanting all these years.
Bahia Potrero is a wonderful place to sail, with good sailing to be had nearly every day. The water is warm and clear. There is lots of marine life including dolphins, whales, manta rays, and abundant turtles. The coast is some of the most beautiful you will ever see.
